![]() If there is one overriding message from these materials, it is that computing security is complicated because very intelligent and highly motivated people - often, but not always, criminals - are watching every angle of users’ computing experience, looking for an opening that they can use for their purposes. This recap is largely based on the summary paragraphs that appear at the ends of most of those sections. This summary presents a brief recap of the major sections listed in that table. This long post has a table of contents ( below). ![]() Hence, this post offers, not an installation guide, but rather a tour through the issues I encountered, with links for further reading. It seemed that security was better addressed, not as an incidental aspect of installation, but rather as a fundamental aspect of computing, worth taking seriously on a continuing basis. It turned out to be involved in almost every aspect of installation, starting from the beginning - and in much that happened after installation. I thought security would be one aspect of installation. The companion post describes the steps I took to install Windows 10 version 1903 in 2019. The subject proved much more complicated and multifaceted than I had expected. This post presents my first serious attempt to understand Windows security concerns, from the perspective of an ordinary user. ![]()
